The Kai Shelf Lounger

How to keep your Floating Luxuries Kai in-pool products looking like new: Floating Luxuries Kai in-pool products are constructed of extremely durable materials. Most dirt will wash off simply using water. For tougher dirt, you can use a cleaning eraser

Sometimes Floating Luxuries Kai in-pool products require a stronger cleaning. There can be many causes of the water staining your Kai Shelf Lounger; mostly it is from various elements in the water. Sometimes it is caused by minerals, pH balance issues, sunscreen lotion, or simply some dirt in the water from natural sources. But here’s the good news, even seemingly hard to remove stains can be removed relatively easily if you follow these instructions. If you have stains that are stubborn, we recommend Bio-Dex 300 Tile Cleaner from Bio-Dex Laboratories. It is available from many pool supply dealers as well as on Amazon. To use Bio-Dex 300 first read all the safety precautions on the bottle it comes in. Drain your Kai Shelf Lounger, then remove it from the pool.

WARNING: Follow all precautionary instructions that come with the Bio-Dex 300. It is a strong chemical and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required to be used to keep you safe. Please see the instructions on the bottle for the equipment that is needed. Rubber gloves and safety glasses must be used along with any other precautions called out on the bottle.

In a well-ventilated area, and not on a surface that could stain or discolor, and using the proper protective equipment, apply Bio-Dex 300 to a soft scrubbing pad and then apply to the areas that are stained. The Bio-Dex works best when it can sit on the stain for 1-5 minutes. After 1-5 minutes, scrub the chair in the stained areas using a circular motion. Rinse the chair with a large amount of fresh water taking care to wash all of the Bio-Dex off the chair. If a second application is needed this may be done. Repeat as necessary when stains appear on the loungers.

Floats

One of the best ways to keep Floating Luxuries marine-grade fabric looking good and to delay the need for deep or vigorous cleaning is to hose it off on a monthly basis with clean water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply embedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more frequent vigorous cleaning. In most environments, a thorough cleaning will be needed every two to three years.

For general or light cleaning, follow these simple steps:

  • Brush off loose dirt.
  • Hose Down
  • Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Woolite or Dawn dishwashing liquid.
  • Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
  • Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air Dry
  • May not require re-treatment depending on the age of the fabric.

For heavy cleaning, stubborn stains and mildew, follow these simple steps:

The marine grade fabric does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric.
  • Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and one fourth cup mild soap per gallon of clean water.
  • Allow mixture to soak into fabric for up to 15 minutes.
  • Blot stain with a sponge or clean towel.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.
